Terms & Conditions

The Downton Shoot is a commercial shoot with days sold in advance of the season to an individual or syndicate, sporting agency or company.

A days shooting is for a party of eight or nine guns, but the shoot does not accept bookings on an individual gun basis, nor does it make up parties of individuals to shoot on a particular day.

The shoot is let on a minimum bag basis per day. A 50% deposit is payable with the reservation of a days shooting, and the balance is payable one month prior to the shooting day.

The price of the days shooting includes the charge for beaters and pickers-up, as well as transport for the guns to and from each drive.

Coffee is provided before the shoot as well as refreshments during the shoot and lunch with wines. Lunch can be served to the guns either during the day or at the end of the days shooting.

The cost of the shoot does not include any transportation for non shooting guests or drivers, nor lunch for non shooting members of the party or their staff.

Where additional birds are shot over the agreed minimum bag, these birds are charged for at the same rate as the pre-paid birds plus VAT, and payment is due on the day of the shoot.

The shoot organiser is responsible for taking out adequate insurance cover, both public liability insurance covering death or injury, or damage to property, and insurance cover against any cancellations of the days shooting for any reason. The Estate requires the right to require evidence of the insurance cover.

If for any reason the Estate has to cancel a days shooting, it will give the longest possible notice of this and will endeavour to offer alternative days shooting on a convenient day. Should this not be possible for any reason, the Estate will refund all monies paid to it for the cancelled days but shall in no circumstances be liable to the shoot organiser or any other member of the shooting party for any claims or losses howsoever arising.

All shooting members of the party are to provide their own guns, as well as gunslips, clothing, boots and other equipment. The Estate cannot be held responsible for any damage to or loss of any of these.

If any members of the shooting party are traveling from overseas, it is their responsibility or that of the shoot organisers to ensure they have the necessary permits or licences in order to bring guns into the UK for shooting purposes.

The Estate is unable to cater for special dietary requirements of any member of the shooting party, but will use its best endeavours to take into account food allergies if given seven days clear advance notice.

The shoot organisers will be required to sign a letter of agreement at the time of reserving the days shooting agreeing to the current Terms and Conditions and returning a copy of the Agreement together with the 50% deposit.
